EV drawbacks

Science has prostituted itself. All the researchers are chasing Grant money. The granting entities make it clearly known what results they are expecting, and the successful grant recipients write their proposals to deliver the expected results, otherwise they fail to secure the grant.

A sad state of affairs......follow the science ,...... NOT!

With respect guys, this is THE most redundant thread on the entire forum, by a west country mile! The confirmation bias displayed here is so stark it is no less than comedic. A heady mix of semi-reasoned bias and conspiratorially corrupt commentary.

Trawling the depths of the internet for any article, utube video or alternate scientific view, that supports one side of a critically important debate, is an intellectually corrupt endeavour.

I still read it just to see whether anybody is stupid enough to put a counter discussion forward. But let’s face it, that is not acceptable or tolerated.

The warm feeling that you get from being right gentlemen, is simply the result of you pissing in each others pockets.

"With respect" (Eye roll)....I would have no problem pissing in your pocket (my aim is terrible though) ....Why don't you do what you believe in and get rid of your shiney gas guzzling motorcycle and get ya self a E bike or the like...(courage is contagious)...and tell us how good it is compared to our fossil fuel burning machines .....im sure there is a knob on it you can polish....
 
I have spent my whole life as a scientist. Global warming is a problem which is probably not surmountable. Our whole planet is turning into a terrmite mound due to population growth. Money-motivation is a major problem - education is the only factor which has slowed the rate of population growth, and to become educated you need money. Free-to-air TV is mostly commercialised, - a complete change of mindset is needed, but probably will not happen.

If population growth is the root cause then we might be saved.

Large parts of the world are facing population decline.

Particularly in Japan and parts of Europe there's a fairly steep decline

1/3 of the global population is in the developed world and without immigration population would be static or declining.

2nd 1/3 is in the process of developing and birth rates are declining but still have expanding populations, with notable exception of China.

Final 1/3 is awaiting being developed and has rapidly expanding populations.

So the first 1/3 is fretting about Net Zero, 2nd Third is heavily reliant on coal fired energy plus will be for decades and if the population growth of the final third is to be reduced then it too needs cheap energy. This cheap energy will be provided by Chinese made coal fired power stations not by solar or wind turbines.

So to stabilise the global population the net effect will be to increase even further CO2 emissions.

Net Zero will only have the effect of moving economic prosperity from the first 1/3 to the other two 1/3's.

So even if Human induced climate change is correct then Net Zero will have no discernible effect other than handing economic power to the 2nd 1/3 before eventually passing on to the final 1/3.

Medicine does not prevent death. It just delays it.

If you think about it, medicine creates its own problem to the point that we can NEVER not have a ‘health crisis’.

The better medicine gets, the better we get at keeping old / ill / infirm people alive for longer.

And old / ill / infirm people are FAR more prone to further illness, disease and injury.

So, actually, the better medicine gets… the bigger the health care ‘crisis’ becomes… it is a perpetually self fuelled and unsolvable conundrum.
