Engine Steady Repaired?

I am guessing that this is a repair of some sort and not factory welds. Does it look safe to continue using or should I just replace it?

I understand it was not unusual for those early head steadys to do that. I'd replace it with a newer type, at least the 850 boxed version, you can get them for around $50 if you look around. Or go to one of the PR or rose joint type. Might as well install the spring while you're at it.
