After having some "ham fisted" repair experts repair a speedometer, I have used J Levine for years to repair my gages, not cheap but excellent work. After my latest repair Joel called me to be aware of all replacement cables. Seems the distance from the end to the brass ferrule may be too long. What this does is load the bushing inside and cause premature failure. He suggests lightly pushing the cable into the .tach/speedo. The ferrule should fit into the recess of the gage, if not the square end of the cable is to long. The distance he give you is 5/16 to 3/8 of an inch, the cable should not bottom out inside but to the ferrule in the recess of the gage.
