Geeze, don't hold back
Some engine braking here so hold on.
After campaigning the Commando racer for a few years I was on one of my first outings on the newly acquired Old Featherbed racer wtih a Combat motor (53% BF) and a gearbox with a penchant for false neutrals. This was at Mid Ohio while going down the paddock straight full tilt in fourth gear. Onto the brakes, intitiate a down shift (shit false neutral) begin the turn in feathering off the front brake and hitting the gear shift again while heading towards the apex and uncerimoniously letting the clutch out again - shit! - second gear!.
So I am going through the turn on a bucking hobby horse leaned over hanging off at maybe 80 mph. Passed the apex, grab the clutch and regrouped, continued in the race and was immediately impressed. My first thought was that the Commando would have spit me off in a heart beat.
So tell me great hobot, what am I missing here? What was happening during this turn while my rear tire was hopping in the air. Was there a moon beam traction force or something? What are Keith Code and all his very successful students missing and what is Tony Foal missing with regard to the mechanics and dynamics of turning a motorcycle. Are they all ignorant also?
Man I cannot believe they had it wrong all these years.
I feel like Charlie Brown summoning the Great Pumpkin after writing this.
