Can anyone comment on the Ebay seller Britspares' stainless rims? I need a wm2 x 19" and he will sell singles but as I understand they come from India. He says they are not perfect which I can believe for the price but nothing beats actually seeing one. Maybe one of you has bought from him and would care to comment?

I just recieved a set of these rims less than two weeks ago.

Upon opening the box, my first reaction is they're OK. You get what you pay for. I was working on the rear rim to start, so I went after it with some 3M roloc discs and then polish with a buffing wheel...this made it look much better. I'd consider these rims "blems" or "2nds"...but they cleaned up nicely. If you ahve more time than money, go for it.

For a bike that is going to be a rider...I'd use them again.

If the bike is going to be a garage queen or show bike, use a different rim and have a professional lace them.

So no problem with hole angles or any other
problem when lacing up to a Norton front or rear
hub?

How much is he asking? He says it's not perfect. In what way? Sometimes a poor quality rim has a hop in it where the ends have been welded that will not come out after trueing, or the nipple holes have been stamped out the wrong size. I'm not saying this is the case with these rims, but it's worth checking before you part with your hard-earned.

I was in a hurry when posting my last reply...

I'm using the rims on Triumph hubs, so I can't speak to lacing one on a Norton rear.

Some of the nipple holes have scratching around them from the tooling...I just polished them out. The welded seam is OK...not perfect, but not bad either.

$180 for the pair, I don't feel cheated.

Are they as nice as a set of Akronts, Excel, or CWC? No.

The ebay seller answered all my questions prior to purchasing, told me if I wasn't happy with them upon receipt, return them for a refund.

Well, I guess that's fair enough then!

Can someone post the wm2 single rims ebay auction by 'britspares". I have yet to find them. I find plenty of the pairs from India pertaining to the Royal E.

Thanks bwolfie. That's why I couldn't find it 'britispares', I was looking for britspares. I guess I'm a day late and a dollar short. I would have sprung for a set of stainless I had to polish for that price. I paid about $250 for chrome from Walridge a few years ago. Can't complain though, UK made but don't have 'Dunlop' on them, but are just like the originals and laced up just fine. At least you don't have to return them to India if you don't like them too, free shipping is not bad.

Now if they will make acceptable SS Roadster tanks?
