Tacho housing £50 or best offer......... RGM have got the same part at £15 +vat, and Andover have got it for £14+. Not only that but Norvil have actually got it in their own shop for £20+vat !!!!!!!!!I realise a business has to make money but that's pushing it .
Do they rely on people just buying from ebay and not checking dealers prices?
I'm sorry, and I know it's good that we can get parts and people have to make a living, but that's really trying to fleece someone!!

If the Norvil Motorcycle Co. are as hell-bent on ruining their reputation as they appear to be, by offering parts on ebay at vastly inflated prices, then there's really not much we can do, other than let them get on with it?

I have to admit I do occasionally browse through their list of junk...sorry, parts purely for it's amusement value!
This one gives me the best laugh at the moment!

In Order To Keep The Cost To You As Low As Possible, We Do Not Undertake Any Cleaning Of Any Item Sold, Everything Is Listed Exactly The Way We Found It In The Shed.

You can't make up comedy this rich.

£16 for a ballast resistor sounds great!

Laugh as we will but he does have 100% positive feedback.

I've put some of my used parts - Norton, BMW, Triumph, BSA, and Guzzi on eBay. Just cleaning out the shed, mind you. I start my auctions all at $9.99 with no reserve. Routinely, I had people pay more for used Norton parts than you could buy new ones for. I don't know if people didn't research this stuff or what. They set the price, I didn't. I never had any complaints, and a great deal of the money I made on eBay stuff went right to Fair Spares, British Cycle, Old Britts, Baxters, etc. Instant recycling.

This weekend, my daughter put her 2000 Grand Cherokee on craigslist for 5,400, which is Kelly Blue Book retail. Nice shape, sold it for 5,000 in the first hour. The guy who bought it was a dealer. Everyone was happy, and my daughter could care less if she sees it on a lot next week for 7K. If you have the means to ask more, and somebody will pay it, well, that's what's going on with eBay. Some people are only going to shop eBay, and others are only going to pull into a dealers lot to look for a car, and not try to scratch out the best deal they can find.

Totally agree on D rods, Mr Seely920!

Well I used them for over 30 years and all the following is just my opinion, m'lud. In that time, I spent a small fortune with them and had mostly good stuff (although I can remember their MK3 stainless rear wheel spindle that nearly killed me. However that was replaced with an suitable apology, so no real problem.)

About four years ago, I spent a very large sum of money on a part which after fitting was found not to fit (if you see what I mean....) . To change it required complete disassembly of the bike that had just been assembled over the course of a week and the transport said part back to the UK and vice versa at my expense. It was a very big part and could not be posted. I did not quibble about this but a simple and trivial mistake by a third party started a very unpleasant exchange during which the true colours of the owner were revealed. You'd think you really know someone after 30 years but I never sussed this guy. He did eventually back down and 'sort of' apologise but I won't deal with them again. I'm not really a 'throwing toys out of pram' person but he is!........ The daughter is a real people person too. Not.

I'm definitely not a believer in the 'customer is always right' mantra but that day, he bit the hand that fed him very hard. Having mentioned this incident to one or two people it apparently seems to be a far from rare occurrence.

MH seems a true gent and I hope he stays in business for many years to come.

He also has the frame lug to repair a 71 sidestand for £99

Plus postage

He did respond saying he wasn't RGM. Good to hear they confirmed it. Still, with Ebay anyone can use anyone elses pics> I have a mate whose living is earned from Ebay selling Corgi and Dinkys etc. Some competitors take his pics wholesale and he gets strife when buyers accuse him of using someone elses' pics!!

I know it seems mad, but I recently enquired about a MKIII lucas rectifier over £40 on e-bay, sellers reply was - trying buying one that has been recently manufactured and you'll see what they cost ( over £70 ), and that the ANIL stock maybe cheaper but was very old. I have noticed here in the UK that prices have been rising of late, and yes the only place I get my parts from is ANIL using their mail order system.
No idea what goes wrong on a rectifier even if it was stored for decades, provided it was stored dryly- but I can asure you though we have some very old stock- "Interpol" transfers come to mind- all "common" parts are rarely older than a few months. We re-manufacture and re-purchase all the time, in fact three members of the team are engaged in purchasing for the company all their working day.

yeah, but those are the last of the REAL cherokees. My friend has a 99, and he's been trying to find another locally for over a year because he doesn't do the internet thing. The 1 or 2 he's found always sell the same day they get on the lot. They typically go way above bluebook (at least in this area)if its 4wd. Real metal and indestructable

Only if you buy it!

The fact is people are trying to charge daft prices for stuff, like this..............

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SIDE-PANELS-850-E ... 336657f2fc

Restoring and running older bikes used to be a relatively affordable hobby, but , like in other areas greed can take over those who have the supply to meet our demand, yes they have to make a profit, some however, are intent in making a profit to the detriment of their reputation.

I wondered about the 100% feedback but I guess buyers were happy with what they got. I think the reason for the 100% + markup against new parts that they also sell is that these used items are 'Original' and not reproduced material. That makes the all the difference to some people! Either that or they don't check their own price lists when loading Ebay items.

Does anyone know if nortonbits on eBay anything to do with the Emerys? The postal address is a convenient (for them) PO box but it's not that far from their premises. If it is one of Kate's alter egos, I'll think I'll just give it a miss.

Previous dealings apart there are some charming replies from nortonbits to anyone having the temerity to post negative feedback.

Great to see this one brought back from the archives!

Just to see if 'the old ones are still the best' I checked out the e-bay link, and it seems that this genuine, original and rare component has remained unsold for er... quite some time now

If (heaven forbid) anyone actually needs one of these, I do have a few of my own available, which I could be persuaded to part with for a suitable consideration. But I guess 99% of the forum already have spares of their own?

I will not trade on on e-bay as I feel it devalues the company.

I do sell chains to companies that do trade on e-bay selling my product and that
is down to them.

I do purchase stuff from e-bay when I consider it is good value but in the main I
have found out that a bit of research can usually get the part cheaper from other
sources.

I think it is sheer laziness on buyers parts in that e-bay is simple, and they think
refunds are simple.........in my experience they are not and an honest trader will
always look after clients.
