Not motorycle-related, but a reply regarding SteveA's post. It refreshing to come across someone with flight simulator experience, I worked for a contractor at NASA-Langley on their simulators for 3 years followed by 11 years in Boeing's Customer Training simulator organisation.

40 years in the industry Frank, I was the chairman of the Royal Aeronautical Society Flight Simulation Group until June this year....I call myself retired now....

But on a more important note, reading from the side of my whisky tasting glass I have misspelt MacPhail......not a Speyside single malt in it though...but a rather nice Kentucky Bourbon....

How about being honest here -did you take it down or did flea bay remove it :?:
You could try posting pics to the m/c monthly’s here, like Classical racer e.t.c. in the UK –they like to tease their readers with a mystery :!:
You could also e mail Sammy Millers museum :!:

hi Bernard
no I took it down just thought id gone full circle with it !
I bought it with h1500 motor in mind then thought it deserves a commando eng if that's what was orig in it>still a question mark over that
if its Jim lee I read somewhere he built the Dunstall h1 500 in early 70s
so guess unless I can prove its for a commando itl end up with a kawaka engine in it and I will be happy cheers dave

But the picture of Jim Lee frames I have seen are not Spine type, and the shock tops are mounted Seeley style, not as the frame you have.

And....I think Chris has a Jim Lee frame so I think he might have recognised something if it was.

I had to look long and hard at that frame as I built something very similar for a chap with a Norton from High Wycombe, some 25 years ago. Mine was different though - firstly, it was TIG-welded, and secondly, the bit below the swing arm mounts was not like that!

many thanks I really don't know it seems to have a little bit of everything
got me stumped!
I think Jim lee did a couple spine frames for commando in 1971 and it could always be a copy of one of those or something else altogether I will measure the eng mountings see if that helps

Hi

Steve is correct Jims spine frame is similar to the Dunstall ie the spine goes down to the swinging arm.

There are two frames that were vaguely similar to that one that I can think of.

The Egli Vincent frame and the privateer racer Lance Capon who made something on the same lines for his Vincent racer.
