Work on the conversion of my '73 Hi-Rider to Roadster has slowed/stalled for some time now, but am still researching and tracking down parts. As the title or name has come up, have done a little research about the DomiRacer bikes built for/by Norton and used for racing in the early '60s. Have came across some parts and an E-bay seller that that goes by the title The Real DomiRacer. In his listings he says he is Tony Schanz and that he ran DomiRacer Distributors until it's closing in 2013. He now has an E-bay presence and as I stated sells under the seller name The Real Domiracer. Have done some research and found some info about DomiRacer Distributors that was in Cincinatti, Ohio. Further info indicated this warehouse of parts was closed and sold off in 2013 and that Tony was next generation and was the son of Bob Schanz who had run DR Distributors but had passed away. Just wondering if other members here could expand on and give more information about, not so much the DomiRacer bikes, but of the parts business that ran as DomiRacer Distributors/Access Mart. It looks like British Cycle Supply Company bought a huge portion of the contents of the DomiRacer Distributors/Access Mart warehouse in Cincinatti when it closed and was auctioned off.

I've had good experiences with Tony. He's always been honest and forthright about used parts' condition purchased on eBay with good pricing. I've owned a couple/few parts manufactured by/for them in their former iteration, and everything seemed to be as advertised and of good quality.

I bought a bit of stuff from DomiRacer when they were in business- pleasure to deal with and great print catalogs that often included posters .

How much information is available about the DomiRacer on which Tom Phillis did the 100MPH lap of the IOM ? It would need to be a very good 500cc twin to be better than a Manx Norton.

Topic drift again Al, please read the OP

Just found these - posting for nostalgia .
DomiRacer parts

Domiracer /Accessory mart was awesome. They held huge amounts of N.O.S. Parts for many makes of British motorcycles. Their inventory was vast. They were my first go to for buying parts anytime I needed stuff and I maintained a dealer account with them for many years. It was kinda sad when it all got auctioned off. End of an era.

Domiracer was down the street from, so spent a lot of time there. Bob always had interesting bikes around. My Commando came from his dealership before Domiracer, Sport Motors.

A friend of mine still owns the 78 Ducati Darmah he bought from Bob in about 1980. They were selling bikes as well as parts and are missed. One of the early suppliers of pattern british parts.

I bought a lot of parts from them over the years they existed. I even drove there in 1985 to pick up 2 Matchless 350 singles for $1200. You had to always watch it with their parts because they weren't always genuine Norton and they didn't specify. Some was total aftermarket junk. It was hard but I threw out all my old Domi catalogs and the posters a few months ago.

Can I ask how old or what time period those would have been from? The 80s maybe? I realize we all have to "thin the herd" or clear out some space at some point, but too bad they got trashed. I'd guess some guys would have liked to have had them. Seems like anymore, just about anything old is desireable or collectable to people.

Domiracer Parts sounds like a business which was built on hype. I wonder if there is any documentation about what was in the race build of the bike which Tom Phillis rode. He proved the 500cc twin could do a 100MPH IOM lap - however he was an exceptional rider. I watched him win several races in Australia, in the early 1960s. I suggest the Commando engine might be an alternative concept. I am surprised it works so well.

I dealt with them from the mid-70's until they quit. Acotrel, this place had nothing to to with Norton racing. It was a very large Brit-bike parts warehouse in Cincinnati. There were 2 entities: Domi-Racer sold to dealers and Accessory Mart sold to the public.
I don't usually throw paper like that out after carefully keeping it all these years but I'm not getting younger and my wife was after me (more than usual) to get rid of "stuff".

I still have the Domiracer posters pinned up in my shop. Very clever marketing on their part: parts for sale on one side in microscopic font, and great period art on the other.
