I'm thinking of replacing my rear wheel for a disc brake type from a non Norton source. I already have converted the drum to 2LS hydraulic and it works well but is tedious to fettle and adjust. I was thinking along the lines of a Aprillia Pegaso 650 item. Any ideas of other suitable donors?

interesting plan; the bmw f650 single was based off the Aprilla, you may find them easier to acquire. pictures of you progress would be nice to see. the bmw ran 36spokes in their wheels.

Hi Gripper,

The rear hub from an early Suzuki GS 750 can be made to fit with a little work. It fits & looks like it was made for the bike & has two big advantages. Firstly it has a superb cush drive, & secondly it means you can fit cheap & readily available sprockets. You will however, have to make a speedo drive ring, some new spacers & a sprocket carrier. This I made from the original sprocket.
This type of hub was also fitted to a few GS 550s. Other hubs which would probably fit include CB 750 F1 & Z1000 / Z750 twin. I fitted one to my MK2a 920 & would never go back to the original hub.

And you can easily avoid the speedometer drive hassles by going with new electronic/magnetic speedo.
