Rear disc brake conversion

Does anyone have any photos of a standard commando pre MK3 footrest/brake pedal setup that's been converted to rear disc brake?
I'd like some ideas on the master cylinder mounting

Rear hub drum to disc conversion

Does any one have any suggestions, I want to rebuild some wheels with alloy rims ect, but don't really want to waste my money lacing up a hub with a POS brake, MK111 would be the easist would it, but have heard they are bit heavy :?: :?: . I would like to get away with keeping the swing arm...

Rear disc conversion

Are there kits to do this to my 74'. I have been playing Russian roulette for too many years with these brakes. This winter it gets a new suspension upgrade, front to back and brake upgrade too. Would like to have rear discs. Guido

Looks like most use a cable operated master cylinder
I'd rather not use a cable unless I have too

The reason for the question is I'm considering going from my current rear sets back to standard position footrests

When I converted my MK111 to r/h gear, l/h brake, I used a standard pre-Mk111 brake pedal that connected via a cable to the 16mm master cylinder under the seat.
It works well and feels normal, as all my other bikes are orientated that way.

Here's what I came up with using Mk III parts; Biggest pita was the long hydraulic line. I made several attempts at using the stock brake lever but in the end, had to fab one up as the cast iron does not take kindly to heating and bending.




















The rear of the Mk III peg arm was cut just behind the M/C mount bolts. A tapered peg section was welded to the leftover after it was ground and cut down to a simple triangle. Then the works was bolted on to the tapered peg. Rechroming wasn't too expensive, but as I said, the lever got fixed and replated twice before I abandoned it and I just made one to suit. First pic was shot before it made it to the plater.
