Cylinder color choices

Since the cylinders are out and I need to refurbish the finish on them, has anyone done anything else than silver or black? Is that heretical? The bike will be JPS colors. Fenders stainless. Photos requested. thanks

I don't know what heretical means, so I'm going to say... Paint the barrels Blue and the Head black.

And the crankcases red ?

You see some pretty wild engine colors on ebay now and then.
All red.
And all blue.
Show bikes though, can't image they'd be riders.

Perhaps the engine in red, white and blue would be more suitable for a JPN ?

Red/white/blue factory pattern

Doing a google search on cylinder barrels for motorcycles, all that's shown is either silver or black. VHT makes a cylinder paint, but like Henry Ford, any color as long as it's black!

Painting a barrel does not seem to last long from my experience, as the paint soon comes off even with VHT coats.
The best method I have found is very basically, a kind of stove enamelling, of the same heat resistant type you get on your white cookers; it has a specific name, Vitreous Enamel. Also available any colour under the rainbow!

Thats ' John Player ' Not ' John Player Special ' colours matched the packet , I think ' Players No 6 ' so there . :lol:

I think youll have to do it WHITE , & Blue , & Red .

White - blue .white. red .white .red . white . blue . white. Er . if theres sufficent fins ,

Id blastem and nickle plate or galvanise em . good for engine plates . :shock:
seeing Chrome is TRIPLE PLATEING (ha ha ) Just plain COPPER plateing would look ok
and you could tell people ' you made them youreself ' . :roll: :lol:

If I had a black tank, I'd definitely do a gold cylinder. Before I strip the black off, I might do a red spray and mock it up just for funzies.
