Wheels arrived this morning. better than I expected. Now to get them stripped, inspected, heat treated and painted. Then I need to source some brake discs, and possibly make new bearing carriers.

The wheels look pretty nice. I'm curious about the heat treat comment. I haven't run across any references to heat treating used mag wheels before. Could you provide some more info? I have several different period mag wheels around that I'm thinking of using (Morris, EPM, Dymag), and if there's some sort of re-heat treatment that that benefits them, I'd like to know more about it. Thanks.

From my searching on the interwebs, the consensus was a treatment of 500 degrees F for 30 minutes. I am going to do some more digging before I do it.

I have to also talk to some of my Aviation Friends, we used magnesium wheels. Fairly common. I need to peruse some maintenance manuals for procedures.
