Hello all. I have a Triumph T140. A beautiful motorcycle. All is good except my rear wheel. The rim has damage that left a dent. I would like to replace it or fix it. The tire guy placed a number of weights both sides of one area. When I slow I can feel the bike wavering. Also on cornering at slower speed. The rim is offset in this year to allow for a straight line rear hub (chain) to transmission. Any body familiar with these? Should I just buy an 18" rear rim and lace it using the same spokes? Is a spoke set available for this year Bonny? Spokes are shorter on right side than left. This cocks the rim to the right. Anyone familiar with this type of wheel.
Just back from a ride. A lot of fun. Thanks, Robert

The rim and spokes changed during 1977. The rear spoke thickness was increased and the rim was changed to match so don't use the earlier spokes with the later (37-7030) rim. The disc rim was always offset from the hub but only to line the wheels up. The rim has a left and a right hand side with a 3x1 dimple pattern. Information from Triumph service bulletin 4-77.

Thanks. I will check out that service bulletin. Thanks also for the rim information. I suspect my rim should have the proper number on it. I will look.

I think that service release was issued after the 1977 production had ended so the change occurred after production had ended and not during production as I originally said. Original Triumph rims are normally stamped with their part number so if it's 37-7018 then it's the earlier rim with 10 SWG spokes. The service release warns not to use the early spokes with the later rim.

Thanks again for your help. I have located and purchased a nos disc brake rim at a reasonable price. He listed it as 1977 through 1982.There was always some question as to whether my export t140 was maybe a '77 or a '78.
I will make sure I use the correct spokes. Your help is much appreciated.
