Crazy is as Crazy does, I'm familiar with this OIF and consulted
its Nortoneer on various issues and out of box work a rounds.
Its still hides too much scenery though the bike Ms Peel's
vanity. If you guys want a half dozen stills of this rig I
can put online and post here. If crazy wasn't a part of
all's-ya'alls nature too, would you really be involved with a craft
that can even hold it self up on its own or at times even with
your best help.

Hello Hotbot, [a private OIF post 3/14/2006 }
For some reason never had much luck posting on NOC-List so have replied directly. Feel free to post for me.
Pics attached show my OIF Commando under construction.
Pics were taken last summer and bike has progressed somewhat since then. I expect to have her running on road by end of May this year.
All frame mods designed and executed by myself. Basic idea was to create a totally stripped down look as much as i like the standard Commando it is a bit of a mess in places - foot rest assy etc. Wanted to emphasise the engine so to that end removed side panels, air box battery oil tank etc.
Cables have also gone ie speedo and tacho cable by use of bicycle speedo (in original Commando housing) and electronic tacho from Norton F1 Rotary. (again in original Commando housing)
Main work includes oil in frame conversion, belt driven car alternator (standard setup in my opinion is a joke) , fourth isolastic under gearbox, cartridge forks by Maxton (to improve weight transfer onto front wheel during breaking), 6 pot front caliper on 12" RGM floating disc, oil filtration on the feed side of the pump instead of return (as done by Kirby Rowbotham on Triumphs), hydraulic clutch conversion (very light action), extensive use of braided hose and proper hose connections (this includes replacing the somewhat dodgy pushon oil filter connections with threaded fittings etc etc
Have a 920 engine under construction but want to prove my chassis / oil system mods with old engine first. One advantage of the fourth ISO mtg below gearbox is that engine can be replaced without bike falling in half.
Have owned her since 1988 (started of as a slightly modified Mk3), that i toured round Europe and used as daily transport for 4 years until i bought a Y***h* 850 twin. Y***h* and other bikes have come and gone but the Commando remains and I have no intention of ever selling her. Also being an engineer by profession i just couldn't help myself. Prepared to accept that alot of what i have done was not strictly necessary but my riding style tends towards the sporting and i like the attention that a well executed very non standard machine attracts.
If you want any more info on any of the above please get in touch but please note that 2 children under age of 3 means that i will not always be able to respond very quickly.
