I'm thinking about buying a Corbin Gunfighter seat for my 1975 Mklll.

A couple of questions:
Is the Corbin Gunfighter comfortable, especially on longer rides (2 hours+)?

Will the Corbin seat fit the Mklll? Mine has the stock seat set-up with side hinge. The knobs on rear shock bolts do not secure the stock seat in the same way as earlier Commandos. (maybe that's an easy fix??
Thanks!
Stephen

Stephen,

Tough to say if you will find the seat comfortable. Many like them and some people do not. Everyone is different. Fact is there are a lot of Corbin seats on Commandos so its safe to say that they work and fit.

I can tell you that it will take some miles to break in.

You will have to remove your seat hinge that's mounted on your frame. The Corbin seat does not use the seat knobs. The seat comes with a bracket that is installed in between the upper shock bolts. This bracket has a pin in the center that the seat attaches to. Simply remove by using the key. Very easy to use.

Thank you Matt! I appreciate your helpful reply.

My Mklll is in warm storage (away) at the moment. And, I forget if the seat hinge bracket can be easily removed and re-installed if I decide to revert to stock seat??

Thanks for all!
Stephen

Stephen,

Sure...easy enough to re-install the hinge. Of course you would have the remove the Corbin bracket again but that's no big deal.

If you decide to get one and order directly from Corbin, they are sometimes funny about sending seats outside the US (mostly due to size restrictions of their seat boxes) so check that first

If you have a problem, get a hold of me at the shop and I will get you a seat.

Love my Gunfighter seat...the old one and the new one.

Love the look on my Roadster. Comfortable and the hump keeps you from sliding off the back when you accelerate hard :D

The Corbin seat fits easy, and the ride is comfortable, especially with rear sets!

Corbin Seat for Mklll

Hi Stephen:

The Corbin seat is comfortable and really enhances the look of a Norton Roadster. But, I don't like them because, at 6'3" the seat puts me too far forward and makes me feel like I'm riding a little kid's tricycle. I've also had an Interstate with a Corbin (the longer gas tank moves the seat back some) and even that felt "wrong" for me. When I'm on the bike, there really isn't any room for a passenger because I sit so far back. Though, as stated, the "hump" does keep you from sliding back on hard acceleration.

As much as I like how my MK2 looked with a Corbin, at 6 ft I have the same problem as Clyde. It pushes me a bit too far forward. Wish they made a longer one!

I am 6'1" and it fits me just fine. My only criticism is that it is hard as a rock. I can't imagine riding on it for 2 hours. After 30 mins my butt is numb.

Hey John-- what kind of bars do you have-- before I had low bars, maybe it would be ok with normal roadster bars. I hate the seat I got from Andover as they didnt put the logo on level.. LOL
Maybe I will try another corbin one day
