Very nice collection of bikes there Paul.

I'm curious if the original Weslakes had off set cranks or was that a Nourish enhancement?

I had one years ago in a Triton. I'll see if I can find some pics of it. I threw the motor in a skip in the end and put a Commando motor in to it. Best thing I ever did!!

So why was it the best thing you ever did. Do you still have the motor laying around?

No I don't have the motor, I threw it in a skip and put a commando motor in. Never regretted it.

Still curious about why no regrets; care to expand on this a little? Was it difficult to tune or maintain or...?

just got the bits back from the chromers, very happy with the results. The exhausts are a little pitted but they are 40 years old! just got the finishing touches to do now. Can't wait to ride it :)

Which chromers please? Don't let that delight out of sight or it'll get ridden away w/o ya. Pleasing lines of the exhausts and well aimed to help fill in the vacuum in the hole in the wind yu'll make.

Hi Hobot

the chromers are a bit far away from you. there in West yorkshire up north England. i'm hoping it will leave a vapour vacuum :D

Ohhh yeah a bit far off from me. I see ads in bike magazines but also some tales of unhappy campers. Glad yours will leave a lasting grin in the wind.

Now, with the new season underway the honours for the new Weslake eight valve single-cylinder motor are starting to build up and already Godden.....

There seems to be a bit of a typo in the article as it mentions an 8 valve engine when the engine the article is about is a single cylinder 4 valve, where the hell are you going to put 4 more valves! Unless we are missing part of this article and the inline "V" was in production at the time of printing. As it is that line is a bit confusing.

Journalists ! . Eight Valve ? mustve been in a rush to get to lunch & confused it with the twin . A mere slip .

Is a anciet  70s cutting from the weekly rag . Appears to be the first ' Four Valve ' up & running .

The Big Speedway circus was where the money was . Jawa Vs Weslake . Ivan Mauger , Barry Briggs & the like .

So , Historically , It would appear to be the Components of the Type One Series One , or pre production prototype .

Forests & Trees , as the saying goes .

Gday Paul, nice photos you've been posting and I love the bike! In this photo, whats the blue canister, nitrous or a flame thrower for ride by lighting up of towel heads?!

Perhaps we could revamp the old Model 50 or ES2 Featherbed....
Saw a new Weslake, Unit construction, 500cc single in a MX outfit recently.
Absolutely brained the KTMs.
One of you wealthy contributors could biuld one up.
AC.

Thanks for posting that J.A.
I just hope that there are plenty of new, young engineers around to keep
up the good work.
