Looks clean & well cared for to me....Hasn't been hanging out in the back alley with the crack ho's for sure.

Just an honest opinion of a very boring Yamaha, but you like it and it seams others do as well, so each to his own.

Can we get back to Nortons on AccessNorton now please?

For the first time in several months the day has started fairly cool & is forecast to only reach the lower 90's, so I'm going to crowd a few more of my short cruises into it....Perhaps an extra 3 or 4 seeing as how I can't further devalue an old Norton 850 that's worthless on the open market today...So what harm can I do? Right? The only value it has is bringing me pleasure...I don't want to just sit back and try looking the good out of it...Maybe you guys shouldn't concern yourselves in the least with value, unless you're buying another, and just ride the doggy doo out of them & repeat.
We aren't going to get another opportunity at the ages many of us have found ourselves at this morning to wrestle an untamed beast.....And that's what they are when throttle sticks wide open, cables break, slides jam, & kill switch quits working....Well, it could happen...What a rush!

That is a particularly horrid Yamaha.

I'm sure NVT said the same thing in 1972 and you know how that went............ :D

I will never own one but like them.

Norton prices Australia.

No offence meant to the seller but I see a Mk1 850 listed, an import (USA?) original, unknown history with a shiny new paint job, the front tyre tells the story.
Asking $16500 and willing to bet with 9700 miles and sitting for decades the rod bearings will need replacing.
$16500 could soon turn into $20000 (US$14k) after you went through it to sell for, well, $16500 on a good day.

Off topic , but what the hell , I didn't start it.
I took one of those Yamaha 650's for a ride once , a long time ago, It flatly refused to go around corners, nearly killed me on the first one .
I gave it back & told him I never wanted to ride it again .

next project taildragger aircraft sure there's a forum for those too love ya'll!
Sure!

....not technically a taildragger, but it sits on it's tail...

You should be able to do some nice air recon of new roads to hit in the hill country with that. Mount an old Interstate tank on it so no one gripes when you toss up a pic.... Perhaps a faring.

And we can call it the "high rider"

A good craftsman never blames his tools.

Don't feel bad...First time I hopped on a 2-wheeled panhead with a jocktop shift & suicide clutch I came right back and shut it off...never have climbed on another, and never will. Suicide is the correct description. Some scoots are not for riders which know better than to tempt fate.
