Whats the matter Bill, cant wait for Xmas? [Its up to BMW , not me - dont doubt that if they want to do it they can, & who knows if they put a quid in a superpack the EPA will give a dispensation if needed [joke].
I doubt that they, being German would release "strong hints" if they couldn`t back them up.

I will say that so far this has been an enjoyable thread. you have been extolling the virtues of your beloved ring ding with its greater power to weight ratio while I keep telling you that it has its down falls as in it is also dirtier running and thirstier to the point that I cannot buy A road legal one in the US and not allowed on some public lands. Yes it has been fun trying to tell you this but to use your word you are so "purblind" that you have gone to the point of name calling because you cannot show me where I can buy one of these wonder motors and use it on our public roads as of today. will it ever be made to pass our standards?? I doubt it but neither me or you have that answer as we are not fortune tellers.

this is also unedited but if you will note as I stated it was also known as a not so great handler as it was referred to as the widowmaker and having a mediocre frame design. the ones I have been around ( my brother also had one and agrees with me) that is was also a notorious vibrator with the handle bars going from 7/8 to 2 inch's as you wound the tachometer around the dial and having a hidden hinge in the frame.
the ding pop was not banned here as a road power plant, it was legislated out of exestance because of dirty air and its inability to meet those requirements. as of today it still has not done so and all the HP in the world is worthless if you cannot sell it.

The Kwacker H2 was a startlingly fast bike to ride, that is, piston port sogginess at low RPM, followed by a strong punch when the power band was reached. Compared to a torquey four stroke twin, it felt blindingly fast. Had it been of rotary valve design, or even reed valved, it would have been MUCH better. The vibration of the 120 degree triple was a big downside. We dropped them from the snowmobile two stroke scene in favor of high stepping , big bore twins. Bill is RIGHT, the emissions have been greatly improved, but they still do not meet the US EPA ON-ROAD spec, they meet OFF-road specs niceley, alowing us to bask in the ROCKIN two stroke goodness in sleds!

With above in mind guess how much fun I had out zipping factory H2's in the early 70's on a squat little Norton 750 torque monster. I had distinct power to weight and response advantage, especially on the standing starts, but most the contests were done rolling starts, usually because they'd run up to me then jerk their bike on throttle run ups. After I got used to how to handle the P!! I'd let em think they left me behind, till I snicked down into 3rd or 2nd and walked right past em in one gear with them buzzy as their engine peddling shifts. They could out handle me in road race stuff as mine didn't really lean enough and too chicken to flat tracker it at hwy speeds like city places allowed. My P!! was pure street cheater race parts though but sure sounded better. Alas the P11's vibrated even worse than the H2's, grips got like 4" in size - all the way to shoulders.
By 'factory' I`m guessing you mean stocker, not one of Yvon Du Hamel's 100+ hp 300lb H2Rs, Hobot..

No H2 race bikes on the street back then i meet with. I got to ride an hotted up H2 in public a few years ago, had wheelie bar like 6 ft long, it sucked chugging lugging mis firing jerking hesitation to throttle for sane operation, but once 5-6000 it would take throttle for a series of short strong pulls as it run out of one gear and next and next and next... Left me tingling rather than throbbing if that makes any sense. Seen some full race and faired H2 triples at Baxter's Cycles gathering, a Birtish oriented shop that takes up most of a town whose wkend rallys match attentance of INOA and other big mulit club meets. Impressive to hear and watch, for a short interval. Ms Peel plan is get noticed on get go response as an outlaw like her daddy of course. I've sampled enough to know what I got in the works.

& Concours, what is the relative mass comparison balance shaft-wise between the 120 degree triple & the 360 degree twin [TX 750]in your stable? Also, it is my understanding that a road vehicle has to be submitted to to the EPA for emissions certification prIor to being sold in the U.S.A.? Do you think it likely that BMW R & D would allow "STRONG HINTS" about a forthcoming 2T road-registerable bike to be made by a factory source if they hadn`t got the situation sorted already?

making a strong hint to having a marketable ring ding is one thing and did they specifically say the US market as it is a different ball game here than other country's reg's. you are correct in that you have to submit the final product to the EPA for certification and a little Christmas gift wont work :lol: . as concours said, hinting at something and delivering is 2 different things.
