Hi, would I be able to use a 2 wire stator from a Commando on a Norton model 50, which has been converted to 12v David

No reason why not provided you update by fitting comparable electrical charging equipment from the Commando. You will need to fit a backplate onto the crankcase to fit the Stator

P.S. you will also need to fit an alternator outer chain case!

My guess is it’s a late model, with alternator, but we can only guess.

If you are replacing an RM15 old alternator with a current one you will need a new 74mm rotor ,new stepped studs with a shorter plain section, a spacer for the rotor (approx 2--3 mm) and some extra wire/bullets , and solder the crap crimped bullets .The rest of the system may melt with the extra amps.
