Yeah, I know, nothing more exciting than watching some yuck kickstart a Norton…

But I couldn't resist!

Actually there were a couple threads on cold starting techniques and I thought I would share my own. If I was smart I would have done it with a second take and edited out the mistakes but I wouldn't do that to you folks.

And so without further delay…

L/H carb should tickle up much more quickly than it did-even if the tank was nearly empty.

I can't say I admire your film art sense of same thing going on for excessive period, but I'd suspect the tickler has slide up its ticklee barely crimped on shaft. Sounds like a lean start yet on one side but once dialed in should event cold start on one Amal dribble. Good form for boys to just wet the bowel bottom and not dribble any.

You might be right. I'll pull the bowl when I get a chance.

Looked like a beautiful Oregon morning; I love how you had the birds chirping in the background. Probably should have passed work and just kept on going

Don't think that didn't cross my mind.

Clouds rolled in and looked dark an ominous by noon. Scooted home and so far it hasn't rained but it still looks threatening. Tomorrow should be beautiful for the vintage racing.

Humidity went away here in the Mid-Atlantic for a few days. Should be a nice day to ride tomorrow, mid 70's, unusual. Norty's ready and so am I.

Hi Dave- nice video! Here's a question for the masses: I notice that you leave the reserve side tap closed. I have always opened both taps. Realizing that it leaves me with no reserve, but I never ride that far anyway; is there any other reason for only opening the one side? Advantages, disadvantages other than maintaining a reserve? Thanks- eric

You have a reserve, why not use it?

ah! the fine art of the tickle, tend to tap mine like a telegraph operator. All that was missing was stuffing the camera in the helmet and letting her rip. I like the smell of gas in the morning... it smells like time to ride.

I'm going to borrow my cousin's action-cam shortly. Then inundate you poor bastards with a slew of riding videos.

The quality isn't that great and the first videos I made were, uh, no so good. Mounting the camera on the helmet for trials when you are always looking at the front wheel makes for poor framing.
