Original Commando castings have a recessed area which seems to be there to provide clearance for the lifter arm (which wouldn't be necessary on a pre-Commando cover as the lifter arm is set at a different angle).


This can also be seen in my photo on the previous page Edit: page one, now.

I have just checked the new cover i purchased & it definitely doesn't have this recess... that is probably why the lever is jamming & not fully returning
