Yes, pouring a bit of oil down the rockerboxes won't hurt anything, it will somewhat pre-charge the sump, not a bad thing.

I didn't mean the cylinders, I think I said rockers. I have even heard of people that prime the oil system first, although this was on racing motors and not air cooled motorcycles. But I did hear of pouring it in the rockers before that is why I mentioned it to him. he also said to fill the tank a day or two before starting it so it can wet sump a bit, This should make sure to get the oil to the head quickly. I guess I am just worried a bit and want to do whats best for it.

Started the bike today, Fired on the 4th or 5th kick. All seems great except it has a little trouble at low rpm, once the throttle is open a bit more she seems to run much better. Does anyone have baseline numbers to start with? It's a Combat as you know with a Mega cycle 560NR cam and a tri-spark ignition, also a two into one exhaust. Just seems as if its lean on the first 1/4 throttle? Thanks guys.

Thanks Paul, It was plenty warm when I took her out for a ride. It just seems to be at low rpm and it back fired once thru the carb so I think this is telling me it's lean. Also the plug looked a little lean too. I'll try increasing the pilot jet this afternoon when I get home. Thanks, chuck.

Hey Chuck,( or is it Horton) I was wondering about the gussets with holes next to the shock perches...did you ad those or was that started in 72? Mine is a 71 and doesn't have them. Might make some and add them in. Nice touch and a little help for the fender support.

I added those, they were purchased from Old Britts. Gives the frame loop a little more strength for fat passengers, Someday the old lady might get fat ya know. :D

uh oh! there goes your allowance for next month. I think I'm going to cut everything out and make the gauge steel alittle thicker and extend the outside pieces for the loop thing only it will no longer be a loop but formed flats that go underneath the fender. I just don't like that visible loop. Think I will spend some time on the frame since everything is apart.

Someday the old lady might get fat ya know. :D
