Thanks. I am thinking about selling this Norton to fund my new BSA project in case anyone is interested.
FWIW, I think you said the same thing when you were considering buying a Harley. We know how that turned out:)
My gut says you will be adding another bike, not replacing it :D

Its possible, but if someone threw money at me I would sell it. Or actually thinking about selling the Harley instead of Norton to make room (easy to get another Harley later). All difficult decisions. You are probably right.
I know, to build this super rocket the way I want it is going to cost a fortune.

To each his own Jerry.

But that’s a helluva downgrade...
I dont agree. I think that I can build the BSA to be a really fun and fast bike. The only thing I am worried about is the brake. Does anyone have a twin leading shoe front that will fit on a super rocket they want to sell?

Lets see what happens

Well I know Beeza‘s can be good Jerry, but you got a Comnoz head, web cam, an extra 100cc and isolastics...!

Praps at least have a chat with Glen (worntorn) first?

My Super Rocket with TLS fitted stops great, it's a much better brake than the Commando TLS.
Incidentally, I'm on the lookout for a really nice 750 Commando as a trade for this lovely Super Rocket....:)

Hi Glen,

I did not know you had one. Can you post some photos of the bike and front brake? Would like to see your setup.

cheers
Jerry

The sea levels are actually rising due to tears shed by previous Norton owners waking the day after selling and realizing what they have lost.... You have to follow the science with this because once sold you may never get 'that' Norton back.

63 Big Valve West Coast Super Rocket. The 61 on SRs had the Spitfire cam and the good Triumph 4 spring clutch. These west coast bikes were made to order for Hap Alzina. He demanded higher compression (9 to one vs 8.5 east coast and UK) and more chrome. The West coast SRs also came with cowhorn bars, which I tried to love, but just couldn't.
The front wheel and brake are from a 68 A65 Lightning. There is a small modification to either fork leg or brake plate required. Once fettled, it will lock the wheel on pavement if really squeezed.
Normal use, it's a two finger brake.
Here is the bike at a show

That is a beautiful bike. I don’t think I am allowed to sell the 750 Norton. Lol. If anything happens to me, you guys have got to promise you will help my wife find bike homes, as she has no idea. Glen I might have questions about my BSA build. I should be picking it up next week. I have the frame and engine numbers and know it’s a 1961. I think it’s 90 percent complete, but already in bits.

So I want to know how your bike performs? I would not be able to live with those bars either. I need to have a look at the tank when I get it to see if it’s west or east coast. I am definitely very excited about this restoration.

Mine is stock but the stock 63 West coast has the same engine as the much ballyhood Rocket Goldstar. And the rest of the bike is pretty similar to the Rocket Goldstar as well, that's why there are so many RGS fakes out there.
On paper and from period road tests, it is a very fast bike.
In reality, not so much. It's on par with a Triumph 650 Trophy.
It's no match for the 650ss.
But it's the prettiest bike in my herd and I kinda like it.
Not a fast bike though. And she does get a bit buzzy at 70mph, best at 60-65.
If in the UK, this would be a great Green Lane bike.

Glen

Can just make out the HHC stamp on Jerry's cases. That stands for " high lift cam and high compression" That is correct for a Super Rocket or Rocket Goldstar.

Yes, that’s how I imagine it’s performance to be. I love how they look and sound too...

'Green Lanes?'
Way too pretty for that....

In over 40 years of British bikes I've only ever really regretted selling one bike, my first 72 Combat Interstate.

Jerry didn't you say the 750 is better to ride than the M111, why sell a bike you enjoy riding, well that's my opinion, a lot of my mates carried on when I converted my 850 to the Featherbed frame way back in the 80s but I enjoy riding my hot rod Norton and the reason I have kept it this way for over 38 years with more improvements, just be greedy and add another bike without selling what you like, you will always make room no matter what.

Ashley

There will be no dissin the MK3!!
Same as me, it's " Love the one you're with"
