Changing pipes.

How complex / pricey would it be to replace scrambler-style exhaust with a set of roadster pipes? Are other components (body panels, brackets, stand, etc.) going to need to be changed too or is it a simple switch-a-roo?

Another question. Is it possible to put a good aftermarket electric starter on an older ('69 or '70) 750 Commando?

Yes to both , as long as you got a thick wallet for the starter .... pipes you would delete a couple of brackets and add a couple of different ones ....

Take a look at Matt's cNw (Colorado Norton works) web site for the info on an aftermarket starter kit. Nothing but good feedback from folks who have added it to their own bikes.

Not sure where you are Dave but there is a company in the UK selling the Alton starter motor for £1690, they advertise on eBay, the eBay no is 232226547120. They will tel you if it is compatible with your machine, which I believe it is.

Without doubt the Colorado unit seems the business but is considerably more expensive.

You will need the flat brackets and assorted bolts that hang the exhausts from the rear of the Z-plates. The rubber donuts will swap over, but you'll need 4 total. Here's one side, upside down. The holes are where the donuts mount.the two bolts close together go through the Z-plate and the peg has a spacer the same width.
