My 71 Cdo came with a POS centerstand, it was tweaked, the holes were egg shaped and it had been braced poorly so that the rear wheel rubbed it when it was up. Picked up a later model stand with new bushings, spring, and bolts. The new bushings are stepped, and I assume the smaller end is supposed to fit into the holes in the cradle? If this is the caase I will have to enlarge the cradle holes. Is this a change that Norton made, or do I have different/wrong bushings?
Thanks

To mount the later stand on a '71-72 model you can use two conversion 064873 bush/spacers.

I purchased the center stand kit 06.4874 From Andover Norton for my 72 Interstate. As Mike G said above, the spacers are stepped. I installed then with the smaller end thru the stand withe the large end just taking up space under the bolt head. The result is that the other end of the bolt does not fully reach thu the locking nut for it to function properly. Is this because the spacers coming with this kit are not compatible with 72 and I need to use the 06-4873 as LAB says? I can not access the reference included by LAB in this old thread. The AN parts drawing for 72 shows spacer with no step 06.1999 (item52) different from the one in the kit. Different part number than the one LAB references but appears to have same dimensions. Can anyone help me sort this out?

I got a CS stand and mounting kit from Andover last summer for my ‘72 Roadster .... there is a thread on here and I think it was “Marsh” that recommended the exact part numbers which are shown in thread , it fit perfectly no issues ... sorry the paper work in shed right now , and I’m away , you could search here for that thread , hope this helps .....good luck

The AN photo of the 06.4874 stand kit shows two 06.4057 stepped pivot bushes and also what appear to be two 06.4873 spacers.

Interesting. I don't recall seeing 2 types of bushes in the kit, but I opened that package quite a while ago and my memory is not what it used to be. It's possible I put the non stepped ones aside. I'll have to check my inventory.
But anyway, at least now I know what I need. Thanks for all the help.

Ps. my confusion was increased by having 2 part numbers for the same parts.

It seems parts suppliers are selling 850 centre stand kits under the 064874 centre stand conversion kit part number with 064057 stepped pivot bushes instead of the 064873 conversion spacers so it's possible AN does too!

I can say that the AN kit works for early 72 and late 74 bikes as I've installed them on both.

Are you saying then that the AN kits contained both sets of spacers?

Edit: Or, did you use the original '72 06.1999 stand spacers?

Yes, they have everything you need without modifying the cradle. Notice that is says: "CENTRE STAND KIT, 1971-ON (750&850) (06.3052)"

Yes, that's why I asked if it contained both sets of spacers as the original 06.4874 kit was a conversion kit for ('71-on) 750 models as it appears some 06.4874 kits (such as that sold by RGM) are not.

Does anyone know what the difference is between 06-4873 and 06-1999? Both are identified as center stand spacers, have the same measurements, but have different pricing on AN site. I'm not concerned about the cost, I just want to make sure I get the correct spacer. For center stand purchased with the AN kit going on my 72 frame.

According to the current AN information, 06.1999 is:
.625 x .453 x .300"
https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/15721
and....
06.4873: .628" x .453" x .300"
https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/16397

...which is wrong as 06.4873 should be .682" x .453" x .300"

..as I quoted from the (now unavailable) AN page in the other "Center Stand" thread.

Thanks LAB. Very helpful.

I apologize in advance for being so dense on this but I'm still confused. AN sells the kit 06-4874 which includes the 06-4031 stand and hw, which let's assume includes 2 sets of spacers. one set (06-4873) for 750 and (06-4057) stepped for 850. This implies to me that on 850 the big part of the stepped spacer is supposed to fit in the hole of the center stand and the smaller diameter part goes in the hole in the frame. And on 750 the nonstepped spacer goes in the hole in the center stand and no bushing/spacer in the hole in the frame. But, on the kit I received, the larger part of the 4047 spacer does not fit into either the 4031 center stand hole or the 72 frame. AN Parts diagrams show same 4031 stand for 71, 72 & 73 bikes. What am I missing?

Probably that powder coating is making the center stand hole a little small - clean it out. I have installed that kit on a 72 and a 74 and there no other issues. The AN parts diagrams/lists show the parts for the original stand and the newer improved stand. You have the newer improved stand. Assuming you have a 750, you need the non-stepped spacer in the center stand, the bolts installed from the inside out, washer outside the center stand, and nut outside that. The bolt/washer/nut lock the spacer to the cradle and the center stand pivots on that spacer.

I purchased an A/N center stand kit about 2 months ago, it came with both sets of pivot bushings.

Best.
