Hi There
To fit a Estart on Maney cases you must grind a lot of material from the cases to allowd the inner primary case to fit properly, and this make the cases weaker.
I wish to buy billet cases but the question is, do they make the 3D printing from stock cases or from Maney cases

Yves, judging by the photos we have seen, neither! And of course, at the price, if you are buying my guess is you get to choose how the drive side is finished. Certainly Steve would supply his cases prepared for a standard primary if required.

But I think it is also a fair guess that most billet produced so far have been for race use, with the probable exception of a set that made their way to Comnoz' workshop?

Yves,

Pretty sure I read in the e-Bay advertisement that the billet cases made by the company in New Zealand were set up for MKIII. Don't know if that meant for MKIII primary cases, or MKIII style crank, or something else. If you can't get an answer from the guy who makes them, who has posted recently here, then send an e-mail to Jim Comstock (COMNOZ), and ask him. Jim would be able to advise regarding what problems you might experience regarding fit, electric start, etc. I think Jim Comstock has LH shift and e-start on his bike, too.

Hope your recovery is going well.

Yves,
Is this what your looking for?
This is Ken (lcrken) MKIII build. I’m sure there is not much stock stuff here.

I am using a MK3 e-start chaincase with my billet cases. I machined the drive side case like the MK3 but left it 1/8th inch thicker so I did not take away as much strength. This moved the chaincase out 1/8th inch. Since I also made my own crankshaft I was able to make the PTO shaft 1/8th inch longer to match.

I do not have a starter on my bike [but it gets more attractive every year].
I have a belt drive in my chaincase along with a 500 watt alternator so installing a MK3 starter system is not possible on my bike.

I may have to look into doing a starter like Kens some day -if I can figure out how to get away from that ugly HD starter.....Jim

Ok, evidently was set.to owner only for some reason. Should be fixed now, let me know if y'all can't see them still.

Seasons greetings, I finally decide what to do about the crankcases and the E start: I will keep the new Maney crankcases from the new Seeley MK2 and I find a system very simular to the one from Ken, I find it in France by Jean-Noel Grindrat, the owner from the Yellow Perril Racing Team.
They are only a few Norton Genius around the world and Jean-Noel is one of them, is team do only long distance racing, like two time 3 hours on the same day and is Norton Seeley MK2 beat regulary the best 4 cylinders from the land of the rising sun, watch you tube and you will see.
But what is the connection this machine and the E Start, well in this kind of races they do a Le Mans start, and even if you make the best lap time at the practice, you must start at the end of the line if you have to kick start you bike, thats why Jean-Noel make a E Start on the clutch basket, this system is normally not for sale, but he agree to make one for me.
Keep you posted
Yves
