There's a registration document (V5) and that will have the original frame and (last known) engine number recorded on it, so all anyone would need is a set of number stamps (and a hammer) to make it "legal".

Something else to consider: the DVLA are currently reissuing all registration documents in red because a batch of green ones went missing a while ago.
The discussion regarding the 'Quaife' box was also quite interesting...apparently there was the problem with the 4th/5th gear dogs which would need sorting. I suspect that if I'd fiddled with the gear lever I may not have found as many as I was hoping/expecting...I didn't bother to check; not after spotting the remarkably shiny new paint on the headstock, anyway.
Meanwhile - I'm desperately looking for a Commando to rebuild for BEARS racing this year - if anyone knows of any (preferably in the UK) please let me know. Anything from a (legit
) version of the above to a Seeley would be fine :wink:

Yes, well...the DVLA shouldn't really tell porkies like that in order to justify the introduction of the new document, which after all, was a planned upgrade because certain details on the form had to be updated.

One change being that the document now very clearly states that it is not proof of ownership (which of course it never was) and (more importantly to the DVLA) the declaration regarding vehicle scrapping had to be updated as the laws regarding the dismantling and scrapping of vehicles has changed.
