I use the old style 12 volt Boyer operating a double ended coil off a CB750 Honda - total loss. For some time now I have considered changing from the 12 volt lead acid battery to a lithium battery. However the lithium batteries all seem horrendously expensive. Our local Aldi supermarket is selling an Infinity brand Lithium battery for $20. It is rated at 20 volt, 4 amp hour. If I put that across my 12 volt Boyer, would the smoke escape ?
I don't know the rating of my 12 volt battery, but it is very small. The medium sized bike batteries seem to be rated at about 7 amp hour. Would I need a ballast resistor in front of the Boyer ?
