has anybody tried one of these on their Norton commando if so what was the fit like and does it take the wind off you at 80/90 mph and are they noisy ? cheers baz

I have seen these on Commandos. No experience, but my JPN with a fairing that is simlar in coverage allows for easy 90mph cruising. You will need R90S bars to go with it to fit. Then you don't have much choice in position if you have the Lockheed front brake master cylinder - only fits in one position due to the shortness of the bars.

Baz, I am currently running an R90S type cockpit fairing, It's from a site called www.flatracer.com, then look under "BMW cosmetic cafe racer parts" mine is actually the Dart cockpit fairing lower down the list, I couldn't see much difference, only the £200 less cost. If anything it might have a slightly higher screen. The black gel coat matched spot on with the bike, I run an original m/c and had to relieve a slither from the inside of the fairing where it meets the screen to allow it to fit properly, but that is with euro style bars, US style I believe are slightly higher and wider so might present different problem, but maybe not if there's more pullback also. I put it on as a trial, I made bracket that bolts from the rear two screen fixings to the handlebar clamps, and two forks push around the indicator stems and are secured with two split collar clamps from Bearingboys . The fixings are temporary as I still liked the naked look better, but it's going to be hard to part with, it made a massive difference from 70mph upward, no side wind problems that I wondered about, it being a non frame mounted type, but the real beauty is I can have it back to naked in 10 minutes flat. If you want to pm me your email I could send you some pics to see the look, I don't have a hosting account to be able to post pics at the mo, I'll get around to it but I'm happy for you to post them if you wish.

My BMW R90/6 came with an EMGO one, much the same looking but probably cheaper.
BMW r90s fairing

My track BMW runs a Norvil Fairing but I found that a bit low and restricted steering lock on my R75/5 years ago.
Mint on the track bike and don't even have to wear earplugs.
These guys are in the States and good to deal with.

80/90 MPH.....lucky...we are only able to do 100 kmph....110 if 'they' are not looking.

I could hold it up to my Roadster and take a pic if you like.

Thanks for the replies this is exactly the info I was after cheers baz

I had one of these on my 71 Commando. It does keep the wind off, but it was a bitch to mount and keep straight.
