Hi Gents,

Just discovered all my bearings are shot ( front and rear wheel) and I've found some for sale in the UK
Anybody heard of or done anything with Michael Cushion Shop in Long Stratton? They look like sealed bearing kits......seen them on Ebay.

I'm just waiting for some shipping costs from him which will probably take a day or 2.

The 2 double wide England bearings are totally gone, and the Portugal ones are still OK, but I'm going to replace them while I'm at it.

What sort of prices are they quoting - all the Norton suppliers will have these. ?

Its worth remembering that bearings are a very competitive business - hereabouts, anyone who can walk through the door automatically gets a 60% discount, and if you are a big customer (buying in volume) the discount can increase substantially.
No-one pays list price....

Opethiselps.

I've never heard anything bad about Michael Cushion. Those bearings do seem very cheap compared to genuine Andover Norton bearing prices.

I thought you could have got them closer to home, from Walridge?: http://www.walridge.com/pdf/2010.pdf

Yeah, Walridge has the single and double row sealed bearings at a fine price. No machining the hubs either, direct replacements. Give them a call if you can't find the part numbers.

Ya Rohan, my neighbor informed me about the real price of bearings.....but I don't have an "in" anywhere.

The double row bearings were ranging between $50 and $60 apiece.
Iguess that was one of the appeals of the UK ones.
Brit bike supply from Wolfville NS had the smaller bearings but the double are on a slow boat from England.......maybe 6 weeks.......blah blah blah.

I haven't talked to Waldridge yet, just cause of timing, closed when I go to work, closed when I get back.
I'll email them (just like talking to a person...little old fashioned)

Thanks much for the notes guys!

I need to get out from under my rock more often...heretofore I had not realized there are sealed bearing replacements that required no machining of the hubs.

Those Fair Spares prices are just about what Walridge charges. I got my double row for about $25, but that was 4-5 years ago and they were on sale with his fall flyer. Walridge numbers are the same but 06-7688S for the double. I didn't realize Phil had them, lots of places don't.

Fair enough.
But walk-in customers don't generally need an 'in' to get the bare basic discount.
While I endorse supporting your Norton Dealer, bearings are from outside suppliers, so anything goes. Could be worth enquiring what their prices are like for single items. And if they can supply them - or if the Norton Dealers have bought all their supplies.
You do need to know the exact number for the bearing though...

Cheers.
