I have .012" crankshaft end play with the new Superblend bearings, a bit more than what I would like. I have the factory shims (06-7569) shims that go under the inner race, but the race is not wanting to come off the shaft with the bearing splitter I have. Is there a source for the Old Britts (06-7569/A) shims that go under the outer race in the case? I need about .005"-.006" shim.

That's already close to the minimum (0.010" - 0.024") for two roller bearings.

This is what makes this site so valuable to those of us that are less experienced at all things Norton.

My source called out . 005" to . 010" end float.

Looks like I'm right where I need to be at . 012"

My MK2a came from the factory with 24 thou end float
No issues

I leave it well alone, I have built a few Commado motors over the years 750s and 850s and not one did I shim the main bearings a few have more end play than others including my own but once everything is button up they have all had no problems at all and are still going strong after many many long miles on them, the Commando motors seem to like a bit of end play and I think some over think or worry about end play to much, infact I don't even measure it.

I agree 100%. And, without a LOT of measuring with the cases fully bolted up, you don't even know which side(s) to shim! If you were trying to "blueprint" the engine; IMHO, the goal should be to get the conrods dead center in the cylinders with them centered on the journals. I played with that one time just because and the shims all needed to go on the timing side to achieve .010" end float and have everything centered. Shimming the drive side would have been the opposite of what was needed.
