Avon Roadrider Universal vs dedicated rear fitment

What are the implications of using a narrower than recommended rim? I run 100/90 Roadriders front and rear on stock WM2 rims.
review the old post I posted up above about footprint of the tire between the two rim width.
You are compromising the benefit use of the tire as designed. These tires were designed to a 2.5" width.

I'm just curious, we all know the world is round because someone said it is but has anyone actually spoken to Avon to confirm what they say in their online recommended rim sizes ?

Yes, actually. Look at Avon's website. It clearly states that the 100/90 x 19s are made to provide the correct profile with a 2.5 inch rim.

Out of curiosity I measured a new Avon 100/90/19 'Universal.

The measurement is the tyre/tire sitting naturally and the caliper is set at the inside measurement of a stock 1.85" MB41 rim and what should be the distance add on for a 2.5" rim (give or take)

1.85"

I spoke to a local supplier (Long time Commando (and GS it seems) owner and wheel builder) and will look at getting some rims/spokes.
What seems to be overlooked or not posted is that getting 'wide rims and spokes is a spendy proposition even though surprised that the Excel price here was well below that of Buchanan's in the USA (with a post add on)

If you do not build the wheels yourself the cost with new rubber would be close to what a year old Commando could be bought for back in the day so no surprise the number of bikes with wide rims is low in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah. Until tou ride one with the correct rim size. Then you might find the combination moving up your list of must haves.

I think we covered that the other day re your years of posting about how bad your business is ( I would only sell it to someone I hate...) and now it's for sale it's a " solid little business"

Anyway, you got this going with your negative comment about the forum in general ( and my post specifically) being full of supposition rather than fact. That was a nasty comment about a great forum.
Jerry and Les plus a great many contributors have put a lot into this forum, it's a very good source of factual Norton info.
If something gets posted that isn't factual it gets corrected pretty quickly.

But this thread was about tires...

Carry on

Glen

Is that the best you can come up with? Show me some real bullshit.

You guys are incorrigible. Be careful or we'll see a trade war between these 2 fine Commonwealth partners!

At least one person here seems to be in dire need of an Optorectomy.
It's a delicate operation to remove the eyeball from the arsehole (Aussie spelling and different to an Asshat!) to improve their shitty outlook on life!

Lighten up!!

Really? You want to insult me as well? Got any facts to go with this thread?
