To each his own...
I was sat in the paddock once at Mallory Park having a cuppa, sat next to my Egli Vincent Godet I had at the time.
A guy comes up to me (a celebrity no less, a former radio 1 DJ as it happens, so probably ‘comfortable’ financially) and asks me what it cost.
So I told him.
I thought he was having a fit. He was absolutely incredulous “What? How much? OMG!” “Hey” he shouts to passing strangers “Did you know this cost £xxx?” All at the top of his voice.
I sat watching him, finished my coffee and walked off.
Later the same day, a very ordinary looking bloke asks me the same question, so I told him. “wow” he said “is that all? That’s a bloody bargain”.
I think the former was looking at a shiny motorbike and valuing compared to other shiny motorbikes. And the latter was looking at the quality components, the incredible workmanship and many, many man hours all put in by Patrick Godet.
Nowt so strange as folk, as they say...
