Are the clergy on the slide?

That was not a comparison I was making. I was talking about authoritarianism generally. The Pope is benign, Hitler was never that. I have been told that the best form of government is a benign dictatorship. Personally, I like to be in control of my own life - to have the right to choose based upon ethical considerations.. The problem is that authoritarianism creeps. I look at China and I am horrified - that might be our future.

From what you have said about the current state of Australia, you don’t seem to have a great choice of options! ;)

It is quite interesting. A few days ago Scott Morrison gave our public servants a lecture. However he does not recognise that public servants need policy direction to function. And so far the LNP has no stated policies.

Sounds like the UK, the USA....
Politics seems to be driven by minority extremists pushing their agenda on social media, feeding just enough information to get the average Joe (who can’t think independently) on board and voting their candidate in and democracy gets another kicking

Here we go down the cube again, religion and politics together, we can't win which ever way we go and then the saviuors of our soles and who been a naughty boy then with all these high ranking ministers getting caught for their younger sins in the church and corrupt politians who seem to get away with it, well I might head up to my church (my shed) and get to my alture for some holy water (my beer fridge) and give myself a blessing.
A blessing that I don't give a dam about both and if I go to hell for my past sins well then I won't be alone as that's where all my mates will be, but then there be lots of politians and bad ministers from the church that got caught, bloody hell I can't win.
As my wife would say "God give me strength" she is a good catholic girl, so there might be hope for me yet, not.

In the states there is going to be a raft of civil cases with the RC prelates. Too many are up to their neck in scandal and coverup for too long. Now with a one year window opening for lawsuits some of these false holy men are going to do time.
...if only a few politicians could be brought down as well!

George Pell is back in jail after his appeal failed. Next step is the High Court of Australia. But where does the buck stop ? Pell is at the top in Australia, next is the Pope. It might end up in the International Court of Justice.

Look at all the conflicts in the world involving religion and all the conflicts in the world involving politics and its been happening for centuries it will never stop when both are involved, its all about power and money who gives a hoot about the people who just want a live a normal life and where there is power there will always be corruption or someone abusing their power for their own needs.
My only problem is they keep putting the price (taxes) up for my holy water (beer) when will it ever end.

Brew your own Beer man (your own religion so to speak) :D

Been there and done that, problem was it was so nice I drank to much, put to much weight on, did my home brews for over 10 years, so really the high prices have made me cut right back in how much I drink these days, but I do enjoy the Coppers Stout 6.3% and the Sparking Ale 5.8% 3 or 4 long necks is all I need these days.
But I do solve a lot of the world problems when I had a few to many;)

We all do that!
Perhaps the worlds leaders should go down to their local and listen to those putting the world to right after 3 or 4 beers -all the issues would be solved within a week!
