It has been a bit since a post from Jim. I rang him a short time ago and the mailbox is full. Has anyone been I touch with The Man ?

Others may know better than me but had heard that he has been unwell lately.
Hoping it is nothing serious.

Jim did some work on my 750 head a few months ago. He did a great job.

It was smoking on the right side as if a guide. I took the head off and removed the valve and it all looked ok to me. I sent it to Jim and he used dye and detected it was very slightly pourus next to the guide. He fixed it for me.

Head is back on, no smoke and that bike is the fastest commando i have ridden. I know it has a lot to do with what Jim did to the head before.

One of the problems with being brilliant at what you do is you end up with too much work.

I forgot to say thanks to Jim publicly here. So thanks Jim. Highly appreciate everything you have done.

I exchanged an email with him a few weeks ago. He has been having issues but hopes to be back at it come late spring or early summer. Don't pester him and he will be back on the forum as soon as he is able.

+1 I reached out to him about 2-3 weeks ago. He’s got a lot on his plate right now. Give him some time, he will get back to you.

I have never had any work done by Jim but he has been very helpfull in some things I am planning to do on a head exhaust threads etc, anyway hope you get better soon, maybe he has put to much on himself with what he does best and we all get older as time goes by and the work builds up, maybe he needs a good break and get out on the bike more to enjoy life more than work.
He does some great work but there is more to life than just work.

Get well soon Jim we all be thinking of you.

Jim has been having his share of challenges. I guarantee that he will always be as productive as his energy level allows. If anyone has any contact with Jim, let him know his insight is missed and we look forward to seeing him back in the saddle. No need to pester. The man will be in the shop when it's in the cards.

I wonder if he's interested in a 61 year old apprentice ?

Cheers,

cliffa

This is not a completely insane idea. I have wondered if I could trade grunt work for skilled and take some of the junk off of Jim's plate. With every enterprise there is a certain amount of work that needs to be done that is basically cleaning up and moving crap around.

Jim,
I would gladly bring a sleeping bag and my work clothes and be a grunt if you had a large run of heads to do or something where I could be of help. I would consider the lessons learned worth my time and if the labor was of value to you, I would gladly accept skilled labor in trade for my unskilled, at a ratio of your determining. Think about this. I'm sure I'm not the only guy here who would be willing to do this.

We can't afford to lose your skill set!

I am still here. Just had a tough winter with medical issues for my youngest daughter, my wife and myself all kind of hitting together.
Things are looking better now and I hope to be "back in the saddle" soon. Jim

Best wishes to you and your family Jim. Get well soon.

Regards,

Cliff.
