Gino's MkIII "JPN Rep." has CMA wheels, I think?
Yes CMA's. look good but they do limit spirited cornering, thinking of trying the original spoked 19" for a while and no the CMA's are not for sale.
LAB, 79x100 yes thats who I was thinking of, you guys memories are better than mine, impressed at the detective work here guys, what time do you thing the photo was taken at Peel harbour?

Ouch to that burned out JPN! Original or not at the end of the day if it rocks your boat its good, original only increases the value slightly if you decide to sell it!

Daveh,

I think you are correct. I looked at Peel Harbor on Google Earth and the geography and features seem to agree. I think I can even see the manhole cover! Resolution is not great on the free Google Earth, but it is still quite amazing!!
Now if I could just find out who built the bike!

This is a very nice example of a non-original John Player Norton Replica and I wonder if anyone knows this bike, it owner, or has any more photographs of it. If I had to guess I'd say it might be in England.
Anyone know this Bike?

Thanks for any information.
Ian

Is the front caliper on this pivoted off the front axle or do the lockheed/grimeca calipers always sit up that high on the left hand side.

This is an AP Racing, (grimeca) on a Mk3. The bracket and the fork leg look different. Ugliest thing I've seen hanging off a front disc.

Anyone know this Bike?

It was swapped for the original caliper which worked better.

LAB's suggestion to trace the bike through the NOC is the best bet.

One other suggestion. If that photo was taken on the Island, your JPN might, just might, be a resident Manx bike wheeled out for a beauty shot. It's too clean to have been ridden, at least not very far. It could of course have been brought in a van from the mainland, but there are quite a few interesting machines hidden away on the Island. If it is a resident, someone will probably know, because it's a small place and there would not be many JPNs with those distinctive cast wheels. So you could place an ad in a local paper or website, or ask the NOC if there is a Norton enthusiast you can contact there. A bit of detective work should keep busy for a while. :)

You're not wrong, I think even LUDWIG would agree that that one looks severly adapted. Do you notice how the other one sits more on top of the disc.

By the look of the leaky fork seals , turned up on trailer.

The photo is definitely taken at Peel on the Isle of Man, I'd know it anywhere. The bike is in the UK. I've seen it at Cadwell Park - Beezumph rally I think. my brother''s got a picture of it

And there are no mirrors or indicators to spoil the nice, clean lines.

Ian — your search has been narrowed down a bit!

The first thing that I do on the Island is buy a cheap bucket, sponge and shampoo. There's serious posing to be done there and cleaning the bike's ideal for when the roads are closed. (Do they race there or something ?) :)
