Anyone going to the Manx?

Yes we are going. The same booking we made three years ago which kept getting postponed. Looks like the racing itself will be a pale shadow of it's former self. We had originally booked until Friday of race week, as normal, but there is no racing after Monday this year so we are going a couple of days earlier & leaving earlier. I get the impression that some of the newer to the island locals would like to see its stopped altogether. I don't think the island's hospitality industry would like that though.

Wonderfull place for just riding around. make sure you get an ordinance survey map and find those back roads . Especially the one opposite the bungalow on the mountain. Drink the local bitter " Ockles " visit all the pubs . Enjoy the ethanol free fuel which may give your bike a little carb trouble.

Maybe we can actually meet up this time ?

Do you know if there is a NOC meeting there this year ?.

Do you know of any events going on around the island, as there doesn't seem to be much info. on the Manx Tourism board site. I know Jurby has been moved to Tuesday for some reason ?

No idea about any NOC meet. I did read somewhere that the pub in Laxey where they used to meet has changed hands and gone a bit upmarket so are unlikely to want to host the NOC. I think the Jurby thing is more or less a VMCC track day organised by the local section. The local VMCC are organising a few things but mostly just social runs.

We are going Tues 23rd and staying till Weds 31st. Staying in Douglas.

For anybody on the Island, there is a 1/8 mile sprint on at Ramsey today from 10:00 am. If you want to say hello, I’ll have a green Norton Commando T shirt on.

I had to laugh - They were having issues with the battery overcharging, so they ran it total loss and renamed it “The White Discharger”:D:D:D

That was just one of the issues last week including a blown engine. Then a mystery misfire on another engine. They finally tracked it down to a faulty ignition pickup on Sunday night at around 23:30. From where I was staying about a mile and a half away, I could here the unmistakable bark of them running the bike up at around midnight.

Steve Hislop's two sons went to congratulate them after the race. It was understandably very emotional apparently.

From Monday’s warm up lap…
