Anyone ever see an "EXP" head stamping?

My guess is somebody stamped it themselves...

It wouldn't be the first time! It'd be interesting to see what the spec of the head is though, just in case.

For the BSA in the 60's they stamped the experimental stuff CD or CDE for Competition Dept or Competition Dept Experiment, also if it was a first attempt it was sand cast with thicker walls. EXP just seems too obvious.

Though I'd also doubt this "EXP" stamp was administered in the factory I must say I- in my mis-spent youth, I was young and really needed the money- bought and sold the prototype 1972 model Norton Interstate Commando on, well-documented as THE magazine test hack.

Its engine was stamped "EXP01".
