I've cut a deal with Jack Sennett here in Parkdale Toronto to purchase and store it at his place an original Pacific Blue 10,000 mile 850 Commando. I live in an art studio downtown so I had to cut a conditional deal to obtain it before others. Tomorrow the bank for his certified Check. Just letting you all know present status. I'm in love with the original paint.

If you live in an art studio, why not just display it as art???

...when you are not out riding it, I mean...

Did you ever sort out your existing storage dilemma? Last we spoke you were thinking of buying trailer to store your bike in.

No I have huge storage problems. Global pandemic excluded. I'm going to search this summer for cheapo property to buy.

I used to live in a third floor 2400 s.f. artist loft in Seattle in the 80s. 13 ft ceilings. I would ride my mk3 into the freight elevator and wheel down the hall it into apartment. We had a full size swing in the place too. Guy next door did the same thing with his BSA single.

Yeah I did the same with 53 Fraser Ave. Toronto. Freight elevator with Norton to roll down the hall , through huge doors into 1150 Sq. ft. space , huge ceilings. Those days long gone. Good partys too.

When I was at uni I kept the bike in the dorm room on the third floor. That went well enough until I drove
it down the hallway at 1 am in the party mode.
End of parking in the dorm room.
Youth is a wonderful thing....

You might be interested to know that there wasa Commando in the window of the Design Centre in London in the late 60s early 70s...

I have often wondered whether or not the 19th Counter shaft sprocket gives a lower torque loading through the gearbox. Layshaftbearing failure was not an issue with the 750s as far as I recall.

Congratulations on the purchase. Not having a garage would kill me. There must be live storage or a cooperative repair facility somewhere near. The bike will sound great echoing off the buildings early on a Sunday morning on the way to the country. Also so many more people to see it. Not that that matters to me.

I sure miss my garage at my house in Houston. Currently living and working here in Japan (south of Yokohama). We have one parking space with the house we are renting that is in a community parking lot. My MKIII is in the front of the house under a cover. Most of my time wrenching out there is on the kids bicycles though.

Temperature controlled year round, 2 levels, and it also contains Rocky Point Cycle which keeps the place afloat. Over 20K stainless fasteners/parts, a tad less than 4000 square feet, counting the ground floor and mezzanine. It was offered as a rental or a sale, the rent was set at $1100/month, I made the purchase; being about 30 miles west of Boston the value has more than doubled.

I made a few changes; it didn't have an office when I moved in, so I built this. If any of you are thinking about a workshop and think you'll live at least 10 more years buying such a place is not only a good investment, but a place you can go to, to regain your sanity and let your imagination run in the upper end of your circadian "tach".

I think of this place as my man-cave, but that is evolving to an art studio. To be PC the general public is told that it is my business location.

When I finish the build pictured below I'll be offering a lot of Norton parts in this forums For Sale.

Sorry for the mess.

Life is indeed short, don't wait to open your throttle, do it now!

Best.
