Yes, get some new hard anodized slides from Amal.

Yes, one after market I'd say.
If they are ok then use them, if you think the carburation is a bit odd, no pun intended,
then replace them.
If the carbs are worn, then new slides may not be the answer.
AC.

The one on the right does not look like any Amal slide I have seen.

They ran very well, aren't worn out, nice and snug in the bores. I'll send them back into service. The black along the edges is Neolube, a graphite dry lube I've used for years, helps a lot.

I would guess the makings on the non genuine slid is LF Harris the Triumph am parts people? I have some Chrome Amal slides, they are not brass but seem heavier than standard, but chrome is wearing off after about 5K km. Also I have just discovered a fault worth checking when installing slides. The drilling for the throttle cable has a little step in it. This causes the cable to not let the needle clip to seat properly. I fitted new clips as the needles were not protruding the same amount, hence one side was getting a different mixture to the other. Worth checking when putting in new slides or playing around with existing. I managed to carefully relieve the drillings to enable the cable to sit clean and not hold up the needle clip. But the chrome slides are starting to flake, so hard anodises are on the menu. I have fitted these to a friends bike, and they constructed from billet rather than cast like the normal Amal, they are much more robust.

Cheers Richard
