I have a 74 commando with a Norris SS cam and twin Amal MK2 carbs.I bought the bike several years ago and was running at that time, last year i started on a light restoration repainting, fresh chrome, the engine has a fresh rebore and +20 pistons. The past couple of weeks i have been struggling to get the bike running, the carbs have been stripped down and cleaned getting a good spark from MK3 boyer ignition. The bike will start but runs very poorly seems like it's only running on the right side gas is literally spraying out the intake of the left side carb, checked float level as per Amal manual . just noticed when i try and start the bike there is a lot of intake noise (sucking or may be blowing hard to tell) from the left carb Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Hugh

Hi guys, Good News! Months ago i had taken the carbs off for a good cleaning but failed to notice which way the slides went back in, well there is a 50/50 chance to get it right or wrong way in my case yep put the slides in upside down i only noticed it after watching a you tube video of a guy working on his T140 with MK2 carbs that's when i noticed the cutaway was at the bottom, went to the garage and sure enough mine were upside down should have know better, never to late to learn by your mistakes. Hugh

Didn’t know that was possible. Good
To know that it is.
I do know for a fact, and numerous other people, that it t is possible to put the Throttle plate on a FCR flat side upside down. It will run, but not well and will make you crazy trying to work it out.

How does it rum now?
