I'm tired of the problems with the stock type swelling / leaking & don't trust the BAP type after breaking the threads of two, bad castings. I'm looking for alternatives and people who have experiance with them such as Pingles etc. I've seen photoes of Commando's with modern high quality petcocks but need to know where they come from. Pictures please. Thanks. Glenn.

Glenn, have you checked out the petcock selection Fred and Ella sell at Old Britts?

I have never had a problem with their petcocks in over 15 years now, in fact still on that original set.

I put two Pingels on the Glenli. The concern there was to get adequate flow for 1360CC and to have taps that were nice to operate , no leaks.
They are beautifully made, silky smooth in operation and have to be the nicest fuel taps ever. These are 3/8 npt tho, so they are too big to thread into a Norton tank as is. The fuel flows out of them damn near like a garden hose, ovbiously overkill, but no harm in that.

Pingels come in a variety of sizes and types although in general they are designed for high flow so they tend to be big.
I think the origin of the Pingel tap was the need to get a higher flow tap to suit the demands of a Harley XR 750 flatracker running at full bore.

Alternative fuel taps will probably need adapters to fit the Norton tanks, but you also need to be able to fit fuel hoses to them. I would be interested in how people are solving this part of the puzzle as well. I really prefer a fuel line with a screw on fitting such as the original as opposed to a hose barb with a clamped hose.

Thanks

the falcon ones are nice, but I doubt they are threaded the same.
can always go for the billet ones with the circles

As posted in another thread

I recently installed a set of these from Eurotrash.

Seem to be working fine. The handles for the standard & reserve petcocks worked opposite of each other - handle pointed up when on for one & down for the other. Removing the handle retaining ring & turning it over allowed the handles to work the same.

Hope it helps,

Joe in St Louis

I put the british Bike Connection ones on my triumph Bonneville and my Commando. I don't worry about leaking petcocks anymore. Wish they had one that would fit my Atlas and my BSA Victor.

Has anyone tried the ones from DomiRacer? 95-832800 or 95-604512 they're about $15 each and look pretty much like the EW taps, but I'm sure they're made as the price indicates. I thought I'd call them anyhow.

If those are the ones with the rubber inserts, I'd pass. I had a pair from Domi, the rubber swelled and blocked the fuel passage.
