Anybody actually use the accessory outlet for anything? I was thinking of getting an SAE connector to hook up to my Battery Tender and putting some little banana plugs or small bullet connectors (if they'd fit) on the opposite ends so i could use it as a charging point. Ideally i'd use one of those mythical accessory plugs (part #062666), but i've yet to see one for sale or even in person. I think they stopped making those as soon as they realized that the electrical system could barely handle running the bike, let alone an electric vest. Which is to say, the day after the Commando went into production...

I use it to connect my battery tender, which is connected whenever the bike's in the garage not actually being used. I just ran connections to the common ground (where the zener was, pre-regulator) and (-) terminal of the battery and zip tied the connector to a frame downtube.
I do this on all my bikes and my batteries last ~10 years - even with electric starters on all but the snorter, and high-compression pistons in some of 'em.

Do you mean this little plug ?
The plug and socket were standard RS Components (Radio Spares) parts and certainly in the UK were available from "Build your own wireless" type shops long after Nortons stopped selling them. I can't see them on their current website.
Maybe an old fashioned electrical shop might have them still ?
Watch out because although the pins have different diameters, there is nothing to stop contact being made if you try it the wrong way round.
Personally, I'm far too paranoid to plug my beloved machines into the mains ! :shock: I used to carry a small "inspection lamp" for night-time roadside repairs but my bikes are just so reliable that I never needed it
