According to some rumors the new Norton 961’s are going to be delivered to the dealers this week. My dealer “RPM Cycles” in Farmers Branch, TX is going to be featuring the new Norton’s at their shop the weekend of the 23rd. They are getting two bikes. The Black Café Racer Dual belongs to me. Almost seems too good to be true. The still have not called me yet to confirm the delivery.

2 bikes is kind of a little, when will more be coming? Any word? Enjoy the new bike!

Norton shipped approximately 8 to 10 bikes. In the factory photo it shows just 8. I’m not really sure how many bikes they are going to ship to the US. My dealer says they will have a shipment every eight weeks. I’m hoping that Norton will be successful in their come back. I would think the first 50 bikes or so would sell pretty quickly. However, at $20,000 plus dollars is won’t take long to hit market saturation.

If I had the money I would buy one :D

Let's see...how much is a new Harley? How about the new Indian? How much is a CNW rebuilt Norton? Norvil? All of the others building bikes?

For a start up company making bikes by hand the price is pretty competitive...and it could turn out to be a very good investment.

I'm very glad that Norton UK has made it to the USA again. It's a heck of an accomplishment.

They will sell.

Good point about the cost of other types of Motorcycles. I guess I tend to forget the dollar just isn’t what it used to be.

There are a long list of $20k bikes out there. No other will have the Norton name on them.

I here you there...always felt $30K+ for a Harley was crazy...I tend to think in terms of my first house ($18K) or first new car back in 77 ($4K)...makes it sound like crazy money. :D

It wasn't that long ago 2008, 2009, 2010, when motorcycle manufactures were motivated to sell bikes. There were lots of great deals out there. Prices have absolutely soured in the last few years.

I agree, it is priced right with the other bikes really. Also remember to
use the Inflation Calculator on everything, it opens you eyes.
Real deals on on used bikes because they so much better and last so much longer than the bikes
of our youth and they go for small money .

Very true about the used moderns. A fellow on the Triumph site just bought an 05 Daytona 955i with with 6100 miles on the clock for $3600, off ebay. It appears to be perfect.
At that it has about $1200 in upgrades. So for 3600 he got a bike with E start, 160 crank hp, six speed trans and watercooled engine that will easily run to 100,000 miles and still use no oil between changes, fantastic brakes and suspension in a bike that is completely vibration free, almost too smooth, if that is possible.
I bought one of these bikes in similar condition (but for more money ) and marvel at how nice it is to ride, comfortable and ultra powerful, 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, the quarter in 10.2 to 10.6, 130mph to 140 mph depending on where you look.

Then I look at the last little bag of timing chest parts for the Vincent engine I'm putting together and shake my head that the little bag cost about the same as the entire Triumph Daytona. And I know Norton parts can be similarly expensive.
Doesn't make sense really, but as has been pointed out before, motorcycles are not a logical item.

In 69 my triumph Bonneville cost me $1100.00 new and they allowed me $600.00 trade on my 1967 Norton atlas wish I still had both of them! :?

The new Norton looks great and I think that for $20G they are competitively priced.

When they reach Australia somewhere in the new year the rumored price is going to be closer to $30G.

I have put in my interest in one when they arrive.

It's just a dream... Seriously though, I hope you don't have to wait much longer. Some people paid in full and waited years for their bike, some had to sue to get their money back. Hopefully your experience has been different.

I'll call RPM Cycles in the morning and see if the Nortons have actually arrived. If they have I'll nip over there and get some pictures.

Please let us know how you get on with it. My black Sport is due for delivery in May 2014. I hope.

They should have one of the bikes on display. As per my request, they are going to leave mine in the crate for now. There has been a service bulletin from Norton stating an oiler needs to be changes out? So RPM cycles won't release the bike until this has been taken care of. The anticipation is a bit overwhelming at times. I’d be just as happy if they would give me the bike now. I'd wait until the bike has problems then they can fix it. In the meantime I’ll just have to keep day dreaming about when my bike will finally show up.

hehehe - like a child seeing big present with name on under the tree but can't open till Christmas.

Can you please answer a question that I have posted in another section.

Are Nortons in USA sold on a "payment up front basis" including race machines.

Andy
