961 To Arrive this week!

This is another shot of my bike sent to me from RPM Cycles. I know that modern Norton body style may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I’d like to think of it as MK3 on steroids
961 To Arrive this week!

So the fibreglass rear cowl top pops of and the pillion seat snaps in its place? If so it is just like my Daytona and lots of other modern Sport bikes. Seems a good way to go and the main seat looks to be very comfortable, moreso than the other models, or any modern Sportbike. I'm surprised they dont build all of their models this way, it is either a sporty but plush solo or converts to dual.

Very nice! You can't blame them for wanting to keep it on the showroom floor for a few days, lol. Enjoy!!!

My only nitpick from here is the front fender. It looks as tho it wouldnt be much use riding in rain, there will be a steady shower coming off the back side.
Easily changed I suppose.

Perhaps I could be of assistance here. I still have a week off work and would be happy to pick the bike up and deliver it to you, free of charge on my behalf or coarse. Just goodwill from one forum member to another. :D :D :D
Thank you for your offer. However after much pleading I now how a kitchen pass from the wife. So I will be able to pick the bike up from RPM Cycles this Saturday.
I guess that's just as well, (for you), I could have only garanteed delivery by xmas.

Enjoy!

Aren't there enough of them around now for them to have their own separate forum and leave this one to the proper non-unit Commandos ?

I agree. And maybe combine it with the MKIII's and/or anything else yellow. :D

Hey Swooshy, wait until you've ridden alongside one. They sound like a V-twin with a misfire and regrettably use and drip more oil than a well set-up 1970s Commando....Is the co-incidence / marketing cynicism of the name enough to make them of interest to those who fiddle with old clunkers ?

Ah Well , they do salt the roads these days still , so all is not lost . Theyd be in danger of corrosion if used for transport otherwise . Wonder if the chrome falls of too , or do they use better glue now .

I wanted an MK3. After purchasing the New 961 my desire for an old MK3 has pretty much been wiped out. For me, there won't be any looking back at this point. The new 961 Norton's are majestic beauties that are a classic in their own time. This is by far the best looking retro café racer ever built period.

That's a fine motorbike.
A fella could feel special on any such like.
