Hi Cliffa , Thanks For posting !

Is a 500 ohms resistance ok even though the shop manual calls for 150- 200 ohms?

Hey I joined to help out Corydee as I'm working on the bike . I'm going through the usual checking of components , and the book as before is 100-200 ohm's and the one on the bike is 500 [ someone before said that should be good] . When I started the bike for the first time it reved up to 2500-3000 then was up and down and very rough. The idle has been adjusted before so not sure if it's set 100% yet but it should be smoother than this . I did try to switch the pickup wires positions to see if it made any difference [ I've had issues with other brands of bikes where the wires were reversed ] but it was worse.

Check the operation and clean the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve underneath the injector body. Also make sure the the hose from it to the TB is not split, and has clips on each end.

Stu Bodycote posted a video showing how to assemble the IAC cap and o-ring to prevent air leaks. This is the black plastic cap that the IAC plunger drives into. Find the video if you can , but essentially you need to place the o-ring completely into the plastic cap recess before assembling the parts. Look him up on Facebook , a lot of great information for the 961 owner.
