Hello,
I am at my wits end. I have a 2013 961. I bought it last year, it ran great for about two month, then everything that could go wrong started to go wrong. I systematically went through all the initial recommended upgrades. Coils, plug wires, plugs, TPS, etc... and it is still running like garbage. Feel like it goes into some kid of a limp mode and loosing power. Also rough idle. So all that to say does anyone know of somebody in western Canada or even the north pacific US that is capable of helping me out? I'm having such a hard time to find anyone who possesses the knowledge or willingness to work on it.

Any decent Dyno shop should be able to check the fuelling/timing to see what's going wrong there and get a bit more information. Mechanical failure? Look for metal in the oil. Compression, rocker cover off to check rockers/ movement (cam/lifters). Not sure what ECU you have - Lambda sensors?

Have you got a video of the issue/rough running? Reason I ask is that they don't run "smooth" so it may be normal....might not....but a quick vid might help diagnose

2013 model ECU is probably an SC Typhoon. It would be worth getting the OBD interface from scs-delta.co.uk which allows you to connect to the ECU using a laptop and their free SXCar software. Some photos below from the software. When my 2013 CR was running badly it was due to rust in the steel fuel rail. This was replaced with an aluminium one.

That's the thing. I've had a friend who is a mechanic take a look and he cant seem to figure it out. And unfortunately, I can't seem to find anyone who is willing to work on it or has the knowhow in western Canada. I would even be willing to shop to the US. Also I'm not sure what ECU it has

Thank you, I'll give this a shot.

Yes I understand they're not a smooth running bike and honestly thats one of the things I love

So I spoke with the previous owner and he said the ECU was already reprogrammed by a place in California. Also It's worth noting that most of the issues only happen once the bike is warmed up.

Valves are hydraulically opened, so if there is oil starvation, it will act like you describe in many cases.

Remove the screen from the oil line strainer. Check the oil level correctly and add 1/4 quart more and even a 1/2.

Check all the oil lines for signs of crushing. Replace the ones that seem"squishy" when hot.

Check temps of each exhaust leg.

See if removing the strainer and oil lines helps at all.

Also, replacing the TPS without the cable and software can introduce all sorts of issues if the values are not set correctly.

Did the previous owner tell you if someone did the final tuning to the ECU when it was returned to the bike? Only two people in California that do the ECU are me and Stewart from tesystems

As asked before, it should have the original typhoon in it. You can confirm using the picture above.

ALSO A WORD OF CAUTION: DO NOT UNPLUG OR PLUG THE ECU WHILE THE BATTERY IS CONNECTED.> SAME GOES FOR ANY COMPONENT THAT THE ECU CONTROLS OR RECEIVES A SIGNAL FROM.> THE ECU IS VERY SENSITIVE>

UPDATE**** Purchased the OBD interface from scs-delta.co.uk and these are the codes its showing. 118 "Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit, 335 "Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit" and "340 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit" . Are the sensors faulty? They appear to be connected with no breaks in the electical lines. Thoughts?

I'm not sure what ECU is in it. Also The previous owner's name is Charlie and he's from British Columbia, Canada. If that helps any.

This should help you identify which ECU you have…
