961 is back !

As you know I’m frustrated with the parts department at TVS Norton.
I sent a message on Instagram directly to Norton.
Here’s my post and their response.
I get confused by this to some extent I guess.

I've been successful ordering a number of parts. It hasn't been hard too do.

For over 2 years I’ve been asking for parts.
Through many emails back and forth with Scott.

First he asked me for part numbers, which I didn’t have, he was then stating they were looking into the parts I was needing and that he would get back with me.

Then the Covid, shut down, then they couldn’t decide if they wanted to sell spares to vintage 961 owners, then he lost the list of parts I was asking for.

Then when he finally given me prices, I responded back asking to call and provide a card number. When I called and asked to speak to Scott, he was out for the day and they took my info.

Nothing in return.
I emailed him back after 2 weeks and still no response.
Over a month later he sent me an email saying that he was waiting for confirmation on a couple of parts and said he’d get back with me as soon as possible.
That’s the last email I received on 10-27-2022.

I believe you then told me Scott was no longer there.

Also, 2 or more years ago, I was in need of a rear sprocket, rubbers and a few gaskets. When they finally came up with the parts, they weren’t accepting credit card payments and only bank transfers. When I tried doing that, it became another fiasco.

What parts did you order if I may ask?

Off the top of my head, rear sprocket, cush drives, carbon fibre chain guard, carbon fibre hugger, taillight.

My guess is that this isn't much further away either: https://norton-birmingham.myshopify.com/

See the bit that says it's "under construction"? That's my point. They take payments currently via a variation of that link - it's how I've paid for my orders. Given that, and that they have put a full POS/Merchant system in, it's logical that there's going to be a webstore.

Ive had no replies to parts enquiries for months, whether it be from emails or phone calls. I only wanted a battery strap....had to give the customer the one off my own bike in the end.

I think we should all individually write to this John Hogan (see his email number a few messages up). Us guys are buzzing around on our 961's effectively advertising the brand, especially as the "New" 961's look almost exactly the same as ours. They should be wanting to keep us on side so that we have only positive things to say about the new owners and that way, many may even purchase new nortons in the future. I am surprised no motorcycle journalist hasn't taken this up if they want a Norton story. I bet Dr Bob gets the spare parts he needs.

I don't mind that they may not want to service our bikes but they should make parts available, particulary to the likes of Stuart at Motorvated

I think we should all take a break . Has anyone been able to get any more spare parts from Birmingham Norton ? I would like a replacement carbon fiber flyscreen .
Got some footrest rubbers and handlebar grips.

Could get the MCN to do an in depth parts investigation. They always publish the truth!

Yes , you certainly have been successful getting the Norton 961 parts you want. I received an email yesterday from the contact us on their website . I have been looking for a Flyscreen to replace my nurses cap style fly screen . I received a response , so they are monitoring it. Here is the response :

Hi Anthony,

I have looked into this enquiry for you, unfortunately we are currently in the process of changing supplier for this part. At this point in time I am unable to supply the part or retail price.

I will note your enquiry and once we are able to supply this part I will be in touch.

Kind Regards,

Norton Parts

Now I will admit that I don't know what fly screen he would be supplying me . But at least there is an answer. It would seem that maybe this is the way to ask for parts ? Through the contact us portal at Norton. I have found a Nurses cap style fly screen from a third party an OEM Norton 961 Nurses cap in carbon fiber . SO , Could it be that the hard to find parts are the ones not getting an answer ? It seems that a battery strap should be in stock soon hopefully.

..... I have been looking for a Flyscreen to replace my nurses cap style fly screen ....
My goodness, nurses cap flyscreen.
There are different types for flyscreens, good grief.
What are the different types?
We need a good, tasteful bikini fairing for the 961, like the ones on the old Guzzi Lemans.

I sent the email to John Hogan days ago. I know im on the bottom of the food chain, but no word back as of yet.

I placed an order on a new bike, Im pretty sure I’ll get it before I get service parts for my Nortons.

You’re better off getting something aftermarket. Or, have you asked Ollie?

I placed an order on a new bike, Im pretty sure I’ll get it before I get service parts for my Nortons.
If the NEW 961 is not certified for sale in the US, you'll have to register it, and ride it in the UK.

I have heard that you can get around that by buying it used etc… Through an agent who specializes in this process.

There were only 2 styles I know of. The Domi style with a smooth curve or the Commando style with a wave in the top edge. (Nurses cap). When you see it you will say Oh I knew that !
