...........The rear hub is 1978 Suzuki GS 550 but a CB750 F1 or a Z750/1000 could be made to fit with a similar amount of work..........Martyn.
Hi Martyn, I was thinking about your rear wheel again and was wondering what kind of offset was needed (if any) when lacing it up in the rim to fit the commando. Again outstanding build, Cj

Hi CJ,
The Suzuki wheel like most Jap. wheels is built with no offset. That is to say, rim central to the spoke flanges. It therefore made sense to keep it the same when I rebuilt the wheel. All I needed to do was make a sprocket carrier to mount the sprocket inboard by the required amount, remove the R.H dust seal to fit a speedo drive boss, & turn up some spacers. The first hub I bought was for a modern Triumph Bonneville but it was far too wide & also rather ugly.
Hope this helps.
Martyn.

(big guzzi's use proper nuts and studs to hold the pipe into the head).[/quote]

Some previous owner of my 850, welded the head and fitted studs. It does not give any trouble so I am not changing them to the original idea.

Thanks for the reply & info, it really looks "at home" on your installation and has me thinking of doing something similar.
