I see this kit has been discontinued , both as an exchange offering and as a direct purchase item. I was planning on going this route when it was time to redo the top-end. I wonder what problems caused Norvil to discontinue this item?

RGM should still do it, it is based on a Ford car piston I think, maybe they are out of stock. Norvil may be dropping it to push people onto the 1000cc kit they do or because of the 1000cc kit tthey don't sell enough.

I don't think the later RGM kit used the Cosworth type pistons (as the RGM piston gudgeon pins are standard size, unlike the Norvil kit that requires the small end eyes to be opened out).

Their 1000cc option isn't really a 'kit' though, I think (unless you consider the whole engine unit as a kit?) as the crankcases, crankshaft cylinder block etc. are all special parts.
